Arizona Heat to a Hot July
From the heat of Arizona to hot events in Wisconsin, July is a very busy month.
Our Arizona installation appears to be working well. As of several weeks ago the church was very happy with the sound quality and capabilities. We arrived back in Milwaukee around midnight, got to bed around 2 a.m. And back to our church at 6:55 for a full morning of services. That morning took a few energy drinks to keep us engaged mentally.
Two days later we did sound for the first Twilight Jazz event of the summer. Swing Nouveau played. A big band so were were stretched with our 24 channel mixer. It was another successful night of Jazz and a beautiful evening on the shores of Lake Michigan. These free nights of Jazz are a great way to relax with some food and drink with friends.
Then the True Freedom multiple church outdoor event on July 2nd. We worked with Nate Aguilar and others for another ministry filled event. Our system is pushed hard with these high energy outdoor events. We need a larger mixer, new main speakers, amplifiers and two more subs to handle these events the way they should be. Not that the event didn’t sound good, but we are at the limits of our system. The Spark provided most of the live music. Then we had backing CD’s for a dance group and human video group and then another small live band that backed a community choir. Did I mention the great preaching, testimony, and the human sign thing.
Then we did live sound for Tiffany Bufford’s live worship concert recording at New Restoration Church. We were short channels for this event (common theme) so we rented an Allen and Heath GL2800-40 from Studio Gear. There was one issue with the mixer – main outs were intermittent so we had to use a group out. We worked with John at Studio Gear to help them duplicate the problem ( their lighting guy helped them – just wanted to enlighten you abiut that). We also worked with metro recording. They had there recording truck there. They have an awesome setup. We split off of there snake for our channels. We provided the wedge monitors and sound for the vocals, they provided the in ear monitors for the instrumentals. They are great guys (Tim and Mike). We got to hang out with them for a few hours eating Cousin’s subs and talking sound stuff! Tiffany and band did a great job. The live event went off without a hitch.
Did I mention we are also working with a large Milwaukee church on a major sound system upgrade.
Finally, we also purchased a used Allen and Heath ML5000-48 mixer. We’ll have a separate posting on that decision as it was a big one.
All these worship events are what we love and feel called to do: Assist the musically gifted in lifting wondrous sounds of worship to our Savior, Jesus Christ!
And that is what the sound/media ministry is all about!
